New Hope Hospital
|
Dr. Maklin is an incredible person working to complete and operate “New Hope Hospital” in the Plaine-Du-Norde community. With no hospital service available in the area, this is a lifesaving endeavor which will benefit many Haitian people.
HaitiHAP has and is supporting Dr. Maklin’s efforts by supplying essential items and support. We started by supplying a cargo trailer so items could be securely stored without fear of disappearing. As the hospital is progressing we are supplying vitamins, medicine, and are currently assisting to secure equipment t be used in an operating room and general use equipment. Providing the most basic equipment and support has a profound impact. With many healthy babies being born at New Hope Hospital we are striving to continue and grow our support so many Haitians will have access to life saving health care. Currently, we are helping to support the addition of a dormitory for visiting doctors and health professionals volunteering their services to the people of Haiti. Accommodations for volunteers and visitors are sparse across Haiti. This dorm will provide a place to stay for visiting health care professionals providing life changing and life saving services to the people of Haiti. Water System

With your support, we helped provide a new drinking water system for the Santo Mission in Port au Prince, Haiti. The Mission is run by the Missionaries of the Poor (MOP) and the Brothers, staff and volunteers care for more than 80 residents. The mission is a very secure and safe place. Many of Haiti‘s wells get cross contaminated from human and animal waste and make the water unsafe to drink. Some waterborne illnesses can be life threatening. This drinking water system provided safe water to not only the residents (many whom are orphan children with special needs), but many in the local community who depend on the work of the mission for food and support. The project provided a sustainable drinking water system that the Brothers operate and maintain. The system supplies up to 750 gallons per day. Typical drinking water needs are 150 gallons per day.

Vitamins
On a recent trip down to Haiti, we noticed the need for Vitamins. With the help of St. Matthew's Parish, we were able to donate over 160 lbs. of vitamins! Thank you for all your ongoing support!
T-Shirts
Simply donating a new or gently used t-shirt can help the children in Haiti. There is currently a need for cotton or polyester t-shirts of all sizes.

Spoons
Many of us take do not realize what we take for granted everyday. It may seem like a strange request, but there is a large need for metal spoons in Haiti. St. Matthew's helped fill that need! Thank you!
Shoes
Haiti was in great need of shoes. Thank you to everyone who donated! We were able to donate over 3,000 pairs of shoes! We can't thank you enough!
